First screened at Egmont’s 2024 Annual Awards, this film follows the work of Egmont Partner Ndola Nutrition Organisation to improve the lives of women affected by HIV & AIDS in the rural communities of the Masaiti District of central Zambia. These women have all either lost a partner to HIV, are caring for someone who is chronically ill with HIV or are caring for HIV+ children.

First shown at the 2023 Egmont Awards, this film explores the work of Egmont Partner The Nasio Trust in Western Kenya. Nasio has been supported to address the issue of rising HIV infections amongst young people in Kakamega County through a youth-led peer education programme. This film follows the story of one peer educator, Riziki.

First screened at Egmont’s 2022 Annual Awards, this film features the work of Egmont Partner The Girl Child Counselling Women Group from western Kenya and their remarkable and effective efforts to protect young people from HIV and its effects.

This film was first screened at Egmont’s Virtual Event in November 2021. Compiled from clips submitted by all of Egmont's Partners that are working to increase access to education, the film shows the difficulties that families across the region have in affording the ongoing cost of educating the vulnerable children in their care. Narrated by Egmont's Programme Manager, Nomuhle Gola, the film also highlights how Egmont's Partners help vulnerable children to stay in school, achieve academically and build a better future for themselves.

In Tanzania, 21% of adolescents reported experiencing at least one incidence of sexual violence or exploitation. Egmont supported Kwa Wazee to teach self-defence lessons to girls and young women in Nshamba, northwestern Tanzania. The project also focuses on how changing attitudes amongst boys and young men is crucial in creating safer environments for everyone.

In the slums of Nairobi HIV prevalence is around 12%, far higher than the national average. TICAH provides residents with nutritional training and works with an innovative group support system, helping ensure those with HIV adhere to their anti-retroviral treatment - keeping them healthy and reducing the likelihood of passing on the infection.

Egmont supported Vukoxa to provide training and resources for rural families in Chokwé District, Mozambique, to improve their livelihoods through agriculture and increase the number of vulnerable children attending school.

HAWIP began as a way for staff from Rumphi District Hospital, in northern Malawi to support the orphaned children of colleagues who had died as a result of AIDS. In 2008, when the number of orphans was too many for staff to support, Egmont began supporting HAWIP to deliver to improve the lives of vulnerable children and families in this rural district.

The story of Aida and her daughter Mariamo and their struggle to escape life on the streets of Maputo, Mozambique's capital. With the help of Egmont partner Meninos de Moçambique, Aida is now living in her own house in Catembe and successfully running a hair salon. Aida is just one of 1,640 street children assisted by Meninos since Egmont funding began in 2007.

The story of Judy and her family, who live in Homa Bay County, western Kenya. Egmont supported the Kenya Poverty Elimination Network to help grandparent-headed households in this rural area which, with nearly 1 in 3 people HIV+, is one worst affected by AIDS in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Egmont supported NASFAM to work specifically with a groups of smallholder farmers - mainly women - coping with the effects of HIV + AIDS to deliver adult literacy and numeracy classes to help them to become self-sufficient and better able to look after the vulnerable children in their care.

After Jestina’s parents died, she had to leave school to find work. But at just 15 she was lonely and vulnerable to abuse. This films tells Jestina’s story, how she was reunited with her extended family in Tanzania, and how her life was transformed with the support of Egmont Partner, Kimara Peer Educators.
